OUGD202 Module Briefing & My Thoughts

Design Production - Digital
Module Deadline - 08/02/2012

---

Keep in mind there are many ways of approaching design in aftereffects - versatile program.

60% of the module is based around pre-production, before getting to screen.  Important that we focus on design and not the software - we're not mac monkeys.

We will be looking at:
  • Basic animations.
  • Design for screen.
  • Design communication for screen.
  • Paper development (storyboards, design direction etc.)
Project and time management essential as a part of this module!  Got to be organised.

Naming everything specifically is the key, Untitled-1.ai for example will get you nowhere.  Ongoing evaluation is needed for good progression with motion-based design.  Need a systematic approach to learning.

Storyboards, organisation charts, pitchboards - all part of the module.

Considerations
  • File size format.
  • End user capabilities.
  • End user technology.
  • Fixed/specific aspect ratios
  • 16:9 or 4:3?
  • Colour modes - RGB, web safe, colour gate.

After attending the briefing, and hearing about the importance of organisation, I think I need to work hard to resolve the problem I had in the last module.  I will work on project management and construct to-do lists through the module to ensure I can get the work done to a high standard and delivered on time.
